Meet the Sales Manager

Jeff Stohrer

manager-scarborough.jpgHi, I’m Jeff Stohrer, Milton CAT’s Scarborough, ME, machine sales manager. My career at Milton CAT began in 1987 when I was 27 years old. I went on a ride along with a friend from my alma mater, UNH, who was a Milton CAT sales rep and I never looked back. One day was all I needed to see how many opportunities Milton CAT offers. I loved how every day offered new and exciting experiences.

I began as a sales rep working out of the Hopkinton, NH, facility covering northern New Hampshire and southern Maine. The lessons I learned stuck with me. I familiarized myself with our competitors’ equipment and services so I could best educate our customers and help them make the right choice. I am confident Caterpillar equipment is the highest quality equipment. I really enjoy educating customers on the great benefits of CAT equipment and sharing my passion with others.

I then covered the North Shore of Massachusetts. The cities of the North Shore are very different than the farms and forests of New Hampshire and Maine. Supporting the unique work that is done in cities was an interesting change of pace and taught me even more about the industry and myself. Relocating gave me the opportunity to establish new relationships and learn about new applications. I gained a better understanding of Milton CAT’s diverse range of services.

In 1998, Caterpillar introduced their first compact construction equipment product line, and I became the compact construction and aerial equipment manager. Transitioning to a managerial role was a natural fit for me. My boss was an important mentor for me, and I wanted to do what he did. I wanted to be able to mentor younger generations and share everything I had learned. I later became the sales manager for the state of Maine. As the company continued to grow, a sales manager was hired for our Brewer, ME, location and I shifted my focus to the southern Maine region.
Throughout my career, I have learned that the ability to listen is extremely important. I have been able to learn and grow by listening to others around me. I am so fortune to work with the supportive and encouraging people I do. I try to take advantage of Milton CAT’s knowledgeable network as often as I can.

When I am not working, you will find me in the great outdoors. I enjoy golfing, hunting, and any other activity that gets me outside. I would rather be mowing my lawn in the rain than inside watching TV!
